According to the Government code 6107 a public notary may not issue a charge for the following notary public acts.
Notary public acts that can not receive a charge are areas that deal with the Armed Forces.
Giving a certified notary copy of, or looking for, any type of record of public knowledge that has to do with allotments, pensions, compensations and allowances dealing with Armed Forces.
Keeping a record of all notaries in a California State-approved notary journal encourages good notary practices. Public employee notaries may be required to charge a fee and remit the fee to the agency worked for.
If a notary is doing the notary work for an employer and receives money for the notary public service that money must be turned in to the employer. Government Code 8202.7. Travel fees are separate from notary fees, and that fact must be disclosed to the signer. It is up to the signer and the mobile notary to decide on a fair price for travel fees. If a mobile public notary charges a client for more than the listed fees they can have their commission revoked or suspended.
